Last week Sol, the winner of the MyTown Decoration Contest, stopped by our office to pick up his prize--a brand new iPad. In addition to taking a tour of our new office in San Francisco and picking up his well-deserved reward, Sol agreed to be a part of an interview where he talked about MyTown and his iPad winning submission. The text is below. Enjoy!
What do you do?
I am a Sales Rep in the Semiconductor Industry. When did you first start playing MyTown? What got you hooked?
I started playing MyTown in February 2010 - version 2.0. I really liked the combination of real and virtual worlds coming together. I first got hooked trying to get to Level 40 as quickly as possible, then I started battling for top position on several local leaderboards. That competition factor really got me hooked. All the subsequent updates have really kept me interested.
Your building was voted by the players as their favorite. What was your inspiration? How long did it take you to create?
The inspiration for my design came from the building itself. I wanted to create a design that matched the design of the building and incorporate stamps that fit the motif. I wanted it to be a place that I would want to visit if it were real. I spent a few hours on it, over the course of a week. Because of my layered design, I learned the hard way that you have to build it from back to front. Otherwise you cover up layers of stamps that you already placed. Also I learned to save the design after each new section of stamps were placed. There was a lot of painstaking work that obviously paid off in the end.
You used a variety of Stamps in your submission, what new Stamps would you like to see incorporated into MyTown?
Maybe some people and/or characters and more animals. It would be cool if the buildings could be resized and moved forward and backwards in relation to the stamps. Perhaps some animated stamps. Maybe land some licensing deals, like McDonalds does with its Happy Meals, and add some licensed content into the stamps.
What do you like most about MyTown? What would you like to see incorporated/improved?
MyTown is a detailed and varied game. There are so many different aspects of game play that keep it interesting. I like the fact that almost every action affects another action. I like the fact that your town will be as valuable as the time you take to manage it. Kind of like real life.
Incorporations and improvements:
The two things I can think of;
1. More real life discounts/deals at places you check-in.
2. Rewards for having the top spot on leaderboards. Maybe increase the value of your town for each property you are the leader at.
Booyah recently announced Nightclub City on Facebook, what are your thoughts on this game?
I have been traveling since Nightclub City was released, so I still need to check it out. It looks like a cool concept.
What other apps do you play?
Angry Birds, Canabalt, Flight Control. As you can see, I like the simple, classic games that you can pick up and play without too much trouble.
Closing remarks? (This is open to anything you'd like to say)
I would like to thank the Academy, my Mom, my fans and Booyah for the opportunity to win a new iPad. Without you guys this would not have been possible. I look forward to many more updates, levels and features in MyTown. Booyah!

Motion for stamps is something we've looked at but are unfortunately unable to implement at this time.

Congrats, Sol! I hope you listen to his suggestions. I think they're all really good. One more I would add would be MOTION to stamps. I love having my Monster trample around my city. It would be great to have pedestrians walk by on the street or my hang glider whiz by.
